So this was my first vegan Halloween.
Me and the meat eater took our daughter trick or treating in one of the rich neighborhoods.
We scored a ton of name brand candy.
As soon as we were back in the car we covertly took half of the candy out of the bag and placed it in a separate bag for her mothers sanity.
After dropping her back at home I poured the good candy out onto my table and stared at it.
I could have none of it.
I rationalized it all I could.
"Why should I give up chocolate for this?"
"It's one night."
"It was free. Wouldn't it be better to not let it go to waste?"
In the end I did not touch the candy.
The holidays will be tough this year. I still have to make it through Thanksgiving and then Christmas (assuming I'm sticking with this past the end of my project.)
One down, two to go.

lame the links i sent you didn't register as links. sorrrryyy you'll have to copy and paste.
so ok so i read you can give the candy to homeless shelters so you won't feel guilty.
Thanks for the links!
On chocolate: There's a place by my house that has some vegan chocolates and some of the better chocolates are just naturally vegan. Rice Dream makes a really good milk chocolate. But, it's expensive and there's not much variation. I've yet to find a vegan Twix or Snickers. Mmmmmmmmm.
Wow, I didn't know you could donate your candy to homeless shelters. That's good to know.
you should learn how to make vegan peanut butter cups... because i would so eat them. ok you can make vegan versions of a bunch of different candies and then sell them to the major candy companies so they can have a niche market and you could possibly be a millionaire and i would of course be your silent partner since it was my idea and you can give me some of that million so i can pay off my college loans.
Congratulations on your resilience! Those little candy bars are my biggest temptation. My parents' house is always filled with them.
Vegan chocolate bars are expensive, but I find that that helps me eat less junk. My favorite is Chocolove's 55% because it tastes the most like milk chocolate. (I actually have several bars. If you remind me I'll bring you one.)
Oh man that sounds delicious.
I love milk chocolate and I've never tried Chocolove. Where do you get it?
They sell them at HEB and the Cupboard. I don't think I've found them at the Denton Kroger. My fiancé bought me a case from their website: Not everything they sell is vegan, though a good number of their things are, so remember to read ingredients.
Oh my gosh, I have so many resources I want to share with you! This is so cool! (You should Facebook friend me, haha.)
DONE!
Wow... a case of vegan chocolate. That's my dream gift.
And yay for resources! I can use all the help I can get. :)
